Elliott Wave Theory - Studies of Crowds

Elliott Wave Theory interprets market actions in terms of recurrent price structures. "The Wave Principle" is Ralph Nelson Elliott’s discovery that social, or crowd, behavior trends and reverses in recognizable patterns. Using stock market data as his main research tool, Elliott discovered that the ever-changing path of stock market prices reveals a structural design that in turn reflects a basic harmony found in nature. From this discovery, he developed a rational system of market analysis. It is through his study of crowds that he was able to gauge much of this. I am sure you are all familar with the concept of the 'herd mentality". In this capsule we study this in depth, it's affect on markets in a refreshing and interactive format

This course is one of the most important you will take, to not only avoid the pitfalls of crowds but to recognize the opportunities society though crowd behaviour presents us. Elliott Wave Theory depicts different waves within financial markets as driven by the vagaries of human emotion. We have seen and heard of the last sucker theory with the Nasdaq bubble of year 2000, of the bottom picking ever since. Very simply if the majority of investors are optimistic, prices rise; if not, they fall until we reach a point of saturation and then we have a dramatic swing - as the 'crowd' is all one way - and we have a swing to the exits or entrance, which ever the case may be.

In the course we discuss crowds, their affects and how to gauge them. Timing is key when it comes to trading, to evaluate when to run with the crowd and when to avoid them is a key to this timing. Then once you've identified the wave pattern, how do you know how long it will last? All this is part of crowd or herd recognition. We learnt in the impulse wave course just how crucial it is to be on them, how the patterns set up and what to look for. This course studies what to look for and how to avoid the crowd when it is wrong - after all we are only human and we are creatures of habit.

An essential capsule - don't miss it!
